NHS White Paper 2010

98 people attended LINk's public meeting about the Government's proposals for the NHS. Participants took part in table discussion on key elements of the plans inlcuding GP commissioning, reducing bureaucracy in the NHS; the new role for the local authority; and patients having a voice and say. There was lively discussion and a majority view that the plans were for too big a change and timetabled to be too fast. The information gathered has been used to form Coventry LINk's reponses to the four consultation documents:

Coventry LINk fed in views to a national consultation about the future of hospital car parking charges Health Secretary Andy Burnham says he wants a "fairer system", lowering charges for some. LINk pointed out that car parking was a big issue for patients in Coventry and that for changes to take place in Coventry the Department of Health would need to take specific action to ensure the renegotiation of Private Finaince Initiative (PFI)  local contracts. LINk said that hospital car parks should not be profit making but should cover the costs of running the car parks.
