LINk volunteering roles

People giving time to carry out LINk work in different ways is key to how the LINk operates. The LINk has some interesting volunteering roles giving a chance to work with others to make a difference to local health and social care services:

Volunteering on a Working Group

Coventry LINk sets up Working Groups to carry out the work within the LINk Work Programme. Our  programme includes work on:

  • Mental health services
  • Choice and control for people who get adult social care services (known as the Personlaistion approach)
  • Hospital services

If working with other people to do pieces of work looking at different aspects of how services are delivered (as set by the LINk work programme) appeals to you this could be a really interesting volunteering role for you.

There is also the option of becoming an Authorised Representative who is trained and criminal record checked so that they can visit the places where services are delivered and talk to patients/service users.

Volunteers receive induction training and other training to support them in the role. Travel and other out of pocket expenses will be paid.

LINk Steering Group member

The Steering Group is made up of individual volunteers elected from and by the LINk membership, and co-opted representatives from voluntary and community groups. This is the LINk's governing group which makes sure that the LINK carries out its role effectively.

We are currently looking for rerpesentatives from local voluntary and community groups to fill two vacant co-opted places on the Steering Group.

The next election for individaul places will be in 2011.
