Coventry Health Services Receive Annual Rating

in

The Care Quality Commission has published the annual ratings for University Hospital Coventry; Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust and Coventry Teaching Primary Care Trust. These ratings aim to show the performance of these services against key indicators.

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust, which provides mental health and learning disability services, was rated overall as ‘Weak’. The Trust was rated as 'almost meeting' the core standards and it was rated 'Weak' in terms of the national priorities measured. In particular the Trust did not meet the priority for the number of people with learning disabilities with a care plan; failed to meet the target regarding transfer of care for mental health patients; and failed to meet the target for access to crisis resolution home treatment. It also under performed in child and adolescent mental health services and best practice mental health services for people with learning disabilities.

University Hospital Coventry was rated overall as ‘Good’ for quality of services and financial management having met most of the required standards. The Trust almost met the core standards and existing commitments and fully met national priorities. The Hospital underachieved in A&E waiting targets and targets for people with cancelled operations being re-admitted and delays in transfer of care.

Coventry Primary Care Trust was rated overall as 'Fair' for quality of commissioning and for financial management. The PCT was said to have failed in terms of commissioning of early intervention in psychosis services. The PCT achieved 11 national indicators and did not achieve 12 indicators. Those not achieved included underachieving on the national priority for access to primary care and stroke care; failed the breastfeeding priority; and was below average for the experience of patients priority.
